ABOUT THE ARTIST

T

Amie G. Tannenbaum is an active member of the Northern Virginia Photographic Society, Manassas-Warrenton Camera Club and the League of Reston Artists. In addition to participating in local photography classes, workshops and critiques, she has studied photographic composition and visual design with the internationally renowned photographers Freeman Patterson and André Gallant at workshops in both Canada and South Africa. She is a guest lecturer on Abstract Photography at Georgetown University, and her work has garnered considerable recognition and awards. Amie is primarily known as a natural light photographer who enjoys using extreme macro techniques to capture spectacular "color impressions" resulting from sunlight shining through stained glass and producing vivid colorations that reflect on or penetrate through glass and other objects. ALL of her images have been recorded directly as they appeared in camera --- no gels, no filters or artificial light sources were used NOR were any of the images digitally manipulated or enhanced by computer programs. The photographer leaves the interpretation of each image to the viewers and invites them to respond in their own way to the brilliant blend of colors, shapes and tones captured by her camera.
